In need of birth related art for upcoming event:
(painted/decorated belly casts, sculpture, photography, breastfeeding images and birth/labor photos)

Event Info:
ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) of Greater Cleveland, the Doula Network of Northeast Ohio and Angel House of Strongsville are collaborating to present re: BIRTH - a two day event centered on bringing awareness to the current birthing industry. Saturday, May 17th will showcase birth inspired art presented by local women and artists, a showing of the award winning documentary The Business of Being Born and book signing by Dr. Marsden Wagner (appearing in film). On Sunday, May 18th an all day symposium will take place addressing concerns over the current maternity care system. This portion of the event will feature Dr. Marsden Wagner, renowned author (Born in the U.S.A.) and former Director of Women’s and Children’s Health at the World Health Organization and author/journalist Jennifer Block (Pushed) in addition to a round table discussion with national and local birth industry experts. Attend this two day event and be transformed, explore what it is to truly ”give birth” as you learn more about the choices, challenges and future of birth in our culture.
The event will take place 6 pm – 10 pm, Saturday, May 17 and 12 pm – 6 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Cleveland State University Factory Theatre located at E. 24th and Chester. Free parking available in Chester Avenue parking lot – adjacent to the Theatre (front entrance).
