This is a great opportunity for someone looking to further their career and experience in the business sector of FM Global and Affiliated.  The successful candidate will investigate, resolve and settle all assigned claims within the policy’s insuring agreement all done in an equitable manner and to the satisfaction of the client and FM Global or Affiliated.  As well, this position assists the Insured in loss mitigation, salvage, restoration of production, claims preparation, and subrogation with final reporting to management.  In-depth insurance policy knowledge will be gained with this assignment. The candidate will manage, control and coordinate all functions of a loss including the retention of outside consultants who assist the adjusters in loss mitigation and measurement.  Further, this candidate will assist the Operations in achieving corporate key results by working with the account team on a regular basis assisting with drafting and developing underwriting policy language to meet intent of the Account Managers.  This candidate will ultimately be assigned accounts and the responsibility to manage open claims handled by other FM Global adjusters occurring throughout the world.  They will conduct pre-loss client visits and assist with policy workshop training to help our insured understand the claims service we provide and policy terms and conditions.  A moderate amount of Travel will be expected with this position.

A college degree or equivalent experience; two or more years of field engineering experience a plus; this person should be analytical, results driven and have effective oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills including negotiating and consulting. The candidate should possess the ability to make quick and sound decisions and recommendations.   They should have good organizational skills.  Good Computer skills including a working knowledge of Word and Excel are necessary.

On an account wide and corporate basis, this position evaluates and assesses the nature, probability and magnitude of loss potential and communicates this to the customer and account team.  This position prioritizes the exposures, ensures the customer understands the hazard and risk to their facilities, agrees to the solution and implements the needed changes.  The Account Engineer handles a defined number of accounts with premium volume of approximately $10M and associated TIV (exposure to FM Global assets) of $20B.  With Operating Procedure guidance, the Account Engineer will have supervisory control and flexibility over the field engineering budget (r-charges) which usually hovers around 10% of the premium.  The Account Engineer will also recommend for approval his own personal travel and entertainment budget (varies with territory and type of customer).  Through teamwork with FM Global field engineering, underwriting, claims and new business development, the position provides a responsive service with innovative solutions to challenges that will foster long-term customer relationships.
