Passive Volume controls are used for transparent playback purposes, as they do not offer any color, tone or gain increases. They are used in conjunction with power amplifiers and CP players or media players etc. These have two or three inputs and a single output. None of these have phono stages as they are passive, so it would require a powered gain stage. Folks use them for their neutrality. Priced below. Many uses include A/B testing, add an input, passive control etc.
