The authentic and original recycled blue glass made in Spain was created by the company Vidrios San Miguel. The company was established in Valencia in 1985 and is dedicated to crafting products exclusively from 100% post-consumer recycled glass.
The deep, vibrant blue color, often called cobalt blue, comes from adding a small amount of cobalt oxide to the melted glass. This technique has been used for thousands of years to create blue glass.
The production process:
Sourcing and sorting: The process begins with carefully selected, high-quality, post-consumer glass containers.
Crushing and melting: The glass is crushed and then melted at a lower temperature than new glass, which saves energy.
Coloring: During the melting phase, cobalt oxide is added to the molten glass to achieve the brilliant blue shade.
Shaping: The molten glass is then shaped into unique, handmade pieces using a combination of molds and mouth-blowing techniques.
Unique results: Because the glass is handmade from recycled materials, each piece is slightly different, giving it a distinct, artistic quality.
