I am creating a new collaboration in northeast Ohio for musicians and songwriters. This collaboration's purpose is to fill a need that I believe is being unmet in our community. Currently there is not a regular place/group for amateur or professional musicians to collaborate with others.
After some initial market research, it appears there is more than enough interest in the local community to move forward with this project. I've created a Facebook group as well as a Meetup.com group to provide members with regular updates of events:
If you don't have access to either of those platforms, let me know and I will try to keep you posted by other means (email, text, etc...).
I'm looking forward to getting this thing rolling. So far I'm imagining 4 different types of events to host. Let me know what other ideas you have.
-Song Share: Individual artists/groups take turns performing a song and then receive feedback if they wish. The rest of the group serves as the audience during each other's performance. This can be in a private group only setting, or in a public setting in the form of an open mic night.
-Collaboration Jam: The entire group present can participate musically. This can be centered around a specific project/genre, or just a good ol' fashioned jam session.
-Workshop: Led by an instructor, this type of event serves to develop a particular set of skills. There may be a fee associated with workshops depending upon the venue and the instructor.
-Inspiration Event: This can be as simple as meeting at a park with a notebook and pen, or attending a singer/songwriter concert. The goal is to spark ideas and feelings
